Understanding the basics
Before modifying your suspension you should know the basic characteristics,
Don't forget to much is never good there is a fine balance one should setup to.

Understeer,
Most cars are factory preset to understeer when driving on the limit as this what most people are used to and is most predicable.
FWD cars naturally will have heavy understeer, The front end will want to go towards the outside of the turn.
Oversteer,
This a typical for RWD, Rear over taking it self thus going in to a drift and then in to a spin.
Although oversteer is beneficial in aggressive driving to much will lead to a nervous car and a tail happy feeling. |

Body roll,
Works like illustrated in the upper picture.
NSX's are naturally very rigid vehicles.
Upgrading the swaybars and installing strutbars will further reduce the sway effect.
This will make the steering wheel more precise and give more grip.
The suspension will work in a more ideal way.
Honda therefore has added extra chassis bars and thicker sway bars to the NSX-R.
Suspension stiffness,
This is noticeable in the harshness of the ride, stiffer springs will stabilize the car and improve cornering and braking. (see lower two images)
Lowering,
Improves aerodynamics and stability at speed. |
